"Wealth Redistribution" and Obama: the Truth

This is the sort of thing that should have come out in the primaries, not 8 days before the election. Obama's comment to Joe the Plumber was just scratching the surface.

Now that brings again to Obama. You've heard, haven't you, that a 2001 Chicago Public Radio interview of then Illinois State Senator Barack Obama has surfaced. In that interview Obama says that it was a tragedy that during the civil rights era the Supreme Court didn't pursue "redistribution of the wealth." Here's the relevant portion of the interview if you care to hear it for yourself.

We've really made some progress here. Well, I guess that the left has really made some progress. We now have a presidential candidate who talks openly of increasing taxes not because the government needs the money, but because the people who do have the money don't actually deserve it and there are other people out there who need it more. Sorry folks, but facts is facts. Redistribution of the wealth is a basic tenant of Communism. To whatever degree you support a forced redistribution of wealth you are a Communist. Simple as that.

The warning signs have always been there. In his book Dreams from my Father Obama writes of a relationship he had in is late teens with someone named "Frank." For some reason Obama doesn't include his last name. Obama refers to Frank as "a poet" who was full of "hard-earned knowledge." He also says that Frank had "some modest notoriety once." Yeah, I'll say. Frank was Frank Marshall Davis was a member of the CPUSA. For those of you who don't like acronyms, that's Communist Party of the United States of America. Frank Marshall Davis ... some mentor, don't you think?

For all of you suburban housewives and country clubbers who think that you are just so, like, enlightened for voting for Obama, it's time for your wake up call ... though I don't know if it will help:

Barack Obama's core belief is that we belong not to ourselves, but to government. We are tools that the government is free to use to bring about what Obama calls "economic justice." The fruits of our labor belong to government ... and government can do with them what it pleases.

Now if this is your philosophy, then vote for this guy. Then every time you draw a paycheck why don't you drop him a line and ask him how much of it you can keep to care for your family and plan for your own future and how much he would like to have to redistribute to someone who sat on their butt while you were busting yours. After all, you voted for him.

AND HOLD ON TO YOUR PENSIONS WHILE YOU'RE AT IT

Some interesting happenings last week. Argentina proposes seizing all private pensions. The purpose? That would be to redistribute all of that money to people who actually need it more. Now I've exhausted my Google capabilities trying to identify this person, I believe it was Barney Frank, but some leading Democrat last week said that the pensions belonging to some evil CEOs would be the first to go. That's just the beginning folks. Mark my words, because I want the "I told you so" on this one, after Obama is sworn in you are going to see an attack on privately held pensions and 401K plans. There's about four or five trillion dollars out there, and the Democrats want their hands on it to further their redistribution schemes.

FINALLY, A REPORTER WITH SOME ONIONS (WELL, FIGURATIVELY ANYWAY)

A TV reporter in Central Florida actually asked Joe Biden questions that we have waited so long for the MSM to ask ... and the Obama-Biden campaign isn't pleased. Last Thursday, Barbara West conducted a satellite interview with Joe Biden. You can watch the interview here.

West asked Biden about Obama's "spread the wealth" comment. She quoted Karl Marx and asked Biden whether Obama's comments were Marxist. Biden's response: "Are you joking?" West also asked Biden about his comments that Obama would be tested by an international crisis early in his presidency. His response to that: "I don't know who is writing your questions."

It doesn't matter who is writing the questions, Joe. What matters is that these are the questions that many Americans have been wanted answers to ... but nobody has dared to ask.

In fact, Biden was so upset by the interview, that the Obama campaign canceled an interview with Jill Biden, Joe's wife, because it was unhappy with West's questions.

Here's what the Obama campaign had to say about the interview. Notice how the Obama campaign has reacted to radio and TV stations that run unflattering ads or ask tough questions – ban them, ask the Justice Department to get involved, get a hold of their advertisers. This is just the beginning, folks.

"There's nothing wrong with tough questions, but reporters have the very important job of sharing the truth with the public -- not misleading the American people with false information. Senator Biden handled the interview well; however, the anchor was completely unprofessional. Senator Biden's wife is not running for elected office, and there are many other stations in the Orlando television market that would gladly conduct a respectful and factual interview with her."

"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election."

So by asking these questions, West is deemed "unprofessional." How about those reporters who reported on Sarah Palin's children, or her days as a beauty queen? Those reports are not unprofessional, but when you ask a Vice Presidential candidate about tax policy ... THAT is unprofessional.

What's so non-divisive about Democrats?

Nothing I can see. I keep hearing them accusing Republicans of being "divisive" whenever they disagree with Democrats on any issue. Yet it's Republicans like John McCain and Sarah Palin that I see consistently reaching across the isle and working with Democrats. But what is the Democrat party leadership doing? Claiming that anyone who doesn't vote for their candidate is a racist? Constantly bringing race into the debate, claiming that the Republicans are the ones trying to make race an issue?

How is that going to "unite" the country? How is the Democrat party, which divides everyone up into aggrieved special interest "victim" groups, whips up their discontent and then feeds off the anger, going to "unite" our country? They actually have an investment in keeping their members angry and discontented, because that is the driving force behind the party. How can that create national unity?

I think most Republicans and many Democrats truly love America. But unfortunately there is ample evidence that many Democrat Leftists hate America as we know it, and want to replace it with something else. Follow the link. If these folks love America, is certainly isn't the same America I know and love, regardless of what Senator Biden says.

They also hate ordinary Americans. Look at what they are doing to "Joe the Plumber", an ordinary American who had the audacity to question The Chosen One when the Messiah approached him in his front yard:

Is it time to start dealing with the Media the same way they deal with us? I think what they are doing to Joe gives us the answer to that question.

We have people in both the Republican and Democrat parties who can work together and find agreement on those things we can agree on. Many of us understand what bi-partisanship means; we "get it". We know it's not possible to have 100% agreement on everything, nor is it even desirable. In a healthy free and democratic Republic dissent is tolerated and encouraged. People who claim that disagreeing with them is always "divisive" simply have no tolerance for disagreement. That's called Fascism.

Joe Wurzelbacher the plumber is not running for office. He's an ordinary American who asked a question when he was offered the opportunity by a candidate. I can only hope that the Brownshirt tactics being deployed by the Democrats against Joe backfire on them bigtime. The far Left often have no sense of propriety or limitations, and just unleash themselves and their hatred until they go too far.

After more than a year of uncritically praising Barack Obama as a supernatural figure destined by fate to solve all of the world’s problems, European elites are suddenly coming to terms with the unwelcome possibility that the junior senator from Illinois might just be another human being after all.

European commentary on Sarah Palin has ranged from ridicule, to ridicule, to more ridicule, to reluctant acknowledgment that Barack Obama may have met his match. In any case, many European elites are sensing that the Democratic presidential candidate, by failing to pick US Senator Hillary Clinton as his running mate, may have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

A common theme running through much of European commentary is that Palin lacks qualifications; it is a critique European elites could, but will not, apply to Obama, presumably because he is a Democrat, and thus ideologically acceptable to Europe’s enlightened class. Many Europeans lament that Palin is (according to Europeans) pushing the US presidential election into a battle of values rather than of policies, as if there is any real substance to Obama.

But if there is one single aspect to Sarah Palin that threatens the smug certitude of Europe’s secular gatekeepers, it is her Christian faith. It therefore comes as no big surprise that Europe’s media elites have directed the bulk of their fury at American evangelical Christian voters. As if European secularism is not also a religion. The article goes on to give samples from across Europe, of what European Newspapers and magazines are saying about Sarah Palin. Read it, if you dare. It makes Charlie Gibson's interviews with Sarah seem downright friendly in comparison.
     

"World Opinion" about Obama, and 9-11

Many claim that World Opinion wants us to elect Obama for president.

US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama may be struggling to nudge ahead of his Republican rival in polls at home, but people across the world want him in the White House, a BBC poll said.

All 22 countries covered in the poll would prefer to see Senator Obama elected US president ahead of Republican John McCain.

In 17 of the 22 nations, people expect relations between the US and the rest of the world to improve if Senator Obama wins.

More than 22,000 people were questioned by pollster GlobeScan in countries ranging from Australia to India and across Africa, Europe and South America.

The margin in favour of Senator Obama ranged from 9 per cent in India to 82 per cent in Kenya, while an average of 49 per cent across the 22 countries preferred Senator Obama compared with 12 per cent preferring Senator McCain. Some four in 10 did not take a view. [...]

It's a BBC poll. In other words, a bunch of commie-socialists want to see a weaker America. No surprise there. And the worlds tin-pot dictators, authoritarians and fascists also want us to have the weakest president possible, for obvious reasons. Duly noted.

It's also worth noting what another poll on world opinion says about 9-11:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Seven years after the Sept. 11 attacks, there is no consensus outside the United States that Islamist militants from al Qaeda were responsible, according to an international poll published Wednesday.

The survey of 16,063 people in 17 nations found majorities in only nine countries believe al Qaeda was behind the attacks on New York and Washington that killed about 3,000 people in 2001.

U.S. officials squarely blame al Qaeda, whose leader Osama bin Laden has boasted of organizing the suicide attacks by his followers using hijacked commercial airliners.

On average, 46 percent of those surveyed said al Qaeda was responsible, 15 percent said the U.S. government, 7 percent said Israel and 7 percent said some other perpetrator. One in four people said they did not know who was behind the attacks. [...]

It goes on to give a break-down for individual countries. Much of it is predictable, but there are some surprises. More of the French and the Germans believe al Qaeda was responsible for 9-11, than do the British. A whopping 30 percent of Mexicans believe we did 9-11 to ourselves! Conspiracy theory is alive and well south of the border, apparently.

I take all polls with a grain of salt. Polls often reflect the views of the people paying for them, and are used to shape public opinion as much as report on it.

While I can't be certain how accurate polls are, I am certain there are many people in the world that I would rather be hated by, then loved by. Their endorsement for a president is a sign, to me, of who we should NOT pick.

So Obama won't meet with our General Petraus, but he does want to meet with Amadinejad. It's not as if nobody else has tried that. What does Obama think he can say that is going to make a difference? What does one say to the New Hilter?

I think Iran would be alright if they were just allowed to have a real election. The ruling party has never allowed it, because they know they would loose their power. If a real election could occur, this lunacy could be stopped, by the Iranians themselves.

Does the internet indicate our next President?

Some people think the internet traffic and buzz say so. And they think it says it's going to be Obama. From Nathan Tabor at The Conservative Voice:

[...] if the internet is any type of serious gauge for political success, then Sen. Barack Obama will be the next president of the US. And John McCain is destined to finish out-of-the-money.

For example, according to alexa.com, an organization that monitors the traffic flow for web sites throughout the Internet, JohnMcCain.com is ranked 24,291, HillaryClinton.com is ranked 9,848, and BarackObama.com is ranked 2528. That's right. Out of the millions of web sites on the worldwide web, Obama's virtual "campaign headquarters" ranks 2,528.

When it comes to blogger links on political websites, technorati.com, another organization that monitors Internet traffic patterns, shows that McCain's campaign web site has 12,863 blogger links, while Hillary's has 31,100 blogger links. But once again, Obama's numbers dwarf Clinton's and McCain's, with 37,295 blogger links.

Several observations can be made from these numbers: Obama is beating Clinton on the internet; while both Obama and Clinton are crushing Republican John McCain on the worldwide web.

According to political strategists who monitor the Internet, when you match these "virtual world" numbers up to fundraising figures in the real world, one sees a similar pattern: Obama first, Clinton second, and McCain third.

There's plenty of blame to go around for conservatives who have allowed this situation to occur. While conservative bloggers and Internet news websites present ideas and solutions to problems, those on the left denigrate, smear and ridicule those with whom they disagree. Yet, most Democrat officeholders on the national level know that these radicals on the net are an important part of acquiring more power. There is a "synthesis" of convenience between far-left bloggers and politicians.

Meanwhile, between conservative politicians and the conservative bloggers and commentators there is a major problem. The problem, for the most part, is there's no relationship to speak of. There's no building of relationships, no cooperation, and no coordination. [...]

The article goes on to give some examples of things conservatives could have done or can still do. But is there enough time? The lack of enthusiasm for John McCain by self-described conservative Republicans certainly isn't helping GOP fundraising.


It makes me think of that 60's song, with the lyrics "You can't always get what you want... but you just might get what you need". But of course if you don't take what's being offered, you get NOTHING. Or worse, what you dread.

But back to the article's premise: Is internet activity a true indicator of how the American electorate as a whole is going to vote? It might be, but I'm not so sure. I do have a theory.

I have seen that there are more left wing bloggers and people posting on the internet than right wing ones. I also believe there are more young people on the internet, and that they use it more often.

I've been on the internet since 1997. I use it a lot. But I don't use instant messaging and a host of other features that are available. But many younger people have been on the internet since they were children, and they use the internet for all sorts of things I don't even understand. And as time goes on, there will only be more and more such people.

Yet todays reality is, not everyone is online, and even among those who are, many of them aren't online a lot, and when they are, they aren't reading about politics. Many of them DON'T read blogs. I'm often shocked about things I learn about on blogs that are not even discussed in the MSM. Most of the people I know off-line never hear about anything that's not mentioned in the MSM.

So the stats about what people are reading on the internet tell us a lot about people who spend a lot of time on the web. But what about the majority of voters? What about the baby boomers of the 60's and 70's? How many of them have busy, full lives, and don't spend a lot of it on the internet?

My theory: I think it's possible that there are a lot of baby boomer Democrats and Republicans, middle class, middle aged, middle of the road, Chamber of Commerce types, that are going to vote for John McCain. They aren't spending a lot of time on-line following Obama or anyone else. But they already know what they want, they pay attention, and they vote consistently.

Time will tell if I am right, or if the internet traffic stats are. But even so, I think the internet IS telling us something. It's telling us that the younger citizens of our nation have no problem at all voting for a President who attends a "God Damn America" church that preaches against "Middle Classness". A man who refuses to wear an American flag pin or place his hand over his heart when our national anthem is sung. Whose wife has been ashamed of our country most of her adult life, and who says America is downright mean.

I find it sad. The Anti-Americanism, the hatred of our country by the Left seems to have been taught and communicated to our youth to the point where it's becoming mainstream opinion. Even if such a man isn't made president in 2008, how long will it before he or someone like him eventually is?

I don't think this bodes well for our Republic. Not for those who think it's worth cherishing and preserving. But I'm not sure how much of this is the Media trying to shape opinions, and how much of it represents real voter intention. I only know for sure that we will eventually see when the voters vote, which way the wind is actually blowing.

Repeal the 17th Amendment

This was on Pat's blog this morning, and it's a topic I've been thinking about while writing this post. Why? Because prior to the 17th amendment, our system of choosing and retaining Senators was part of a system of checks and balances. The Senate was originally created as legislative buffer, a counter-balance to the House of Representatives. Since the 17th amendment, the brakes have been off, and our system of government has been deteriorating. I recommend following the link and reading the whole post, it's not very long, but it is very important. Our government, as it was created, could withstand just about anything. But as soon as the built in protections are removed, it can only falter and fail. We need to fix it before it's too late.
     

The world should be given the right to vote in American Elections to make "correct" choices

At least, that's what many of the European elites are saying. And of course when they say "the World", they really mean just themselves. From Soeren Kern at the Brussels Journal:

The outcome of the US presidential election will affect the lives of millions of people around the world. So it’s probably not surprising that many Europeans are resentful that only Americans will have a say in it. European media are saturated with election coverage that is heavily biased in favor of the Democrats. And, as in past elections, European elites are also demanding the right to help choose the next occupant of the White House. What follows is a brief survey of what some Europeans are saying about the American way of democracy.

An editorial in the Brussels-based, center-right De Standaard articulates a view shared by many Europeans: “American presidential elections are not ‘home affairs’. American decisions have repercussions all over the globe…. Hence, the world should be given the right to vote.”

This view is echoed by Simon Heffer in the London-based, conservative-leaning Daily Telegraph. A column titled ‘If Only We Could Vote for the Next US President’ argues that “Many Britons will feel it would be rather nice to have a vote, too. Well, maybe not a whole vote: I would settle for one worth 50 per cent of those cast by American citizens. After all, since we are a strategic colony of the US, it would be nice to have even a marginal say in how the empire chooses to dispose our goodwill and our blood and treasure.”

What European elites really seem to want is the right to “help” Americans choose the “correct” candidate. And if newspaper headlines are any indication, that person is, overwhelmingly, Illinois Senator Barack Obama. Indeed, across the continent, European elites are infatuated with Obama, who is now a cult figure. [...]

It goes on to give many examples of what Europe's Newspaper editorials are saying. It's not surprising the Europe's elites want to steal our elections, since they have already stolen the rights of voters in the European Union's member states. The European Constitution that was rejected by Europe's voters is now being called a "treaty" instead of a constitution, and is being implimented without a vote. From Paul Belien at the Brussels Journal:

Today’s EU’s governmental bodies – the European Commission and the European Council – are unelected; they are appointed by the national governments. In other words: it allows the executive powers to usurp the legislative powers.

Today, up to three quarters of all legislation in the 27 EU countries already emanates from the commission and the council in Brussels. The national parliaments are obliged to rubber-stamp these decisions. The reform treaty – or the constitution that dares not speak its name – will formally subordinate Europe’s 27 national parliaments to the union, while the latter will also receive self-empowerment powers.

The new EU will act as a state in its relations with its citizens and other states. It will have a common diplomatic corps, a common foreign minister, a common president. Unlike the American president, however, the European peoples have no say in deciding who their president is going to be. The first president of Europe, who will assume powers next year, will be appointed next fall by the 27 leaders of the member states’ governments. It looks as if the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has the best chances of becoming Europe’s president. [...]

It goes on to describe how Tony Blair, just days before resigning as Briton's Prime Minister, signed away a number of the rights that Margaret Thatcher had secured for Britain in the 1980s.

Read the whole thing for all the horrific details. I don't know which is more sickening; what they are doing, or the fact that so many people in the USA think Europe is the best example of what WE should be doing too.
     

Anti-American "Art" at Portland Oregon Airport

Radio personality Lars Larson asks if this is appropriate for display in Portland's Tax-funded Airport:


Portland is the largest city in my state; the majority of people live around it. I've never been there before, but I must say, the more I hear about it, the less I want to visit. I moved away from San Francisco to get away from this sort of thing, but it seems like every large city on the West Coast is increasingly becoming part of the Left Coast.
