Benjamin Franklin's 302nd Birthday

It's today! Here is an interesting Ben Franklin quote:

"If you would not be forgotten,
as soon as you are dead and rotten,
either write things worth reading,
or do things worth the writing."

Scientist, inventor, statesman, printer, philosopher, musician, and economist... he was all of these things. Thank You Ben. The world is a better place because you were here.

Why do you think, Chas, that there were so many great minds in America of that era? Is it just that we are taught that there were so many great ones, or is it objectively so? Maybe they were the first generation of people in America who didn't have to worry (literally) about the wolf at the door but they were still free to think in new ways.

I think there have always been brilliant people in America, in every era. Even now. Even if the MSM does ignore them in favor of Britney Lohan and other assorted celebutards.
